"...I liked the GTI so much when I got her that I've kept her running better than NEW..."
(My answer to anyone asking why I have replaced so
many parts; there wasn't anything wrong, I just wanted
to keep her as fresh as she was the day I got her.)

Personal Comments
The GTI is AWESOME. I used it as my daily commuter
until my recent acquisition of a moderately customized
1990 Cabriolet (see right) which also has a superb
Alpine V12/Kenwood biamped Alpine/Pioneer/JBL stereo
system, as well as SEVERAL high-performance parts and
modifications [cam, airbox, injectors and suspension].
The GTI has superb, tight handling and fabulous fuel
economy [approx 38 mpg]. It won't outrun a stock 16V
without a modified G-grind cam and/or turbo (I didn't
install them because I don't race her) .. BUT .. the
Cabriolet can and has (it's REAL fast!).

I have meticulously maintained the GTI over the
years, keeping it as new as possible by replacing
parts with new parts over a stress-factored calculated
lifetime. I'm the original owner from 1987; with all
the new parts, it's practically a new car [sure runs
like one]. Current DEC 99 registration, just passed
California smog, tuned every 5000 miles, 20/50 oil
change, transmission oil and lube every 3000 miles
religiously.

Excellent condition overall although with high freeway mileage, mostly L.A. to Sacramento trips on
Interstate 5. Garaged year-round, the car has seen little rain (I use a 4x4 in bad weather), and
has seen little snow. Ice cold air-conditioning for those brutal Sacramento summers when I'm not
in the convertible.

Possibly available for sale, make me an offer and we can talk about it (we can
discuss the rims and stereo). I'm thinking about keeping her, so I'm in no real
hurry to let her go. I have three other cars; one may have to go for garage space.
Original alloy rims/Pirelli P700 will go with it if I do sell it.
Email me if interested.
